Terri Schiavo & The Quake - Opinion

Personally, I don't follow news that grips the entire nation supposedly, which serves to redirect the focus of the American public on to something quite useless in comparison to other things happening across the globe. For instnace, I was shocked and saddened to hear the occurence of a massive earthquake measuring 8.7 on the Richter's scale. It struck around the same area where the December 26th tsunami washed away all signs of life near the Aceh province of Indonesia.

Which 'Damage' do you think needs more attention?

This time however, the earthquake struck near the "Banyak", "Nias" and the "Simeulue" islands, the first of the three being closest to the epicenter of the tremor. So far, approximately 518 deaths have been confirmed by the UN and it is expected that the number is larger than that, and will probably grow unless aid does not reach the affected area in a timely order. In my pick of news, the earthquake is at the top of the list. I wish this event could receive as much coverage as the "Terri Schiavo" case has. I guess if Nias were a US territory, it would be fortunate enough to catch the attention of the media and the public.
